Why Reaching Men is Critical for Democracy’s Future

Globally, boys and men are facing a unique set of challenges that threaten not only their own wellbeing, but also the social, economic, and civic foundations of society. An increasing lack of meaningful social connections and real and perceived inequalities in education and the workforce have contributed to the growing political apathy and confusion of American men. In the U.S. and abroad, these conditions have been leveraged by extremists and authoritarian populists to cultivate support for anti-democratic goals and political violence amongst men and boys. How can the pro-democracy ecosystem help support a positive, pro-social vision of masculinity that is appealing to boys and men? What strategies are experts and nonprofits using to engage men and address the challenges they face? And, what are the consequences for democratic institutions if supporters of liberal democracy fail to meet this moment?

For an in-depth exploration of these questions and more, join us on Thursday, May 15, from 1-2pm ET / 10-11am PT.
